Comparison of Intel Raptor Lake Vs. Alder Lake
we have seen some leaked information with regards to the new amd’s upcoming family of processors code-named ‘raptor lake’ which is supposed to be based on the zen architecture and not the original picasso based navi chips as we thought earlier when we reported about the cad drawings of the new form factor of threadripper family which were powered by either first generation pinnacle ridge cpus or the second generation matisse powered epyc rome ccxs.
I don’t know what intel plans to do with their desktop and mobile products. But as we saw the alderslake is good for building servers or small form factor desktop/laptop but i would suggest you to go for an amd based socket compatible server cpu which has better hardware support like:
– Intel vr-2020 r1
– AMD x570 motherboards support inbuilt gpu like AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 1071-MHz (x8) graphics card

Will Raptor Lake require new motherboard?
It depends on the motherboard quality. The motherboard we use here in Raptor Lake is very good and you have a chance of it still functioning in the system. If you see some kind of malfunctioning and it is not fixable then your best choice will be to buy another model with the same price but a different brand.
What is Raptor Lake processor?

Will Meteor Lake use LGA 1700?
No we are using lga 1151 socket on our boards. It’s same as intel skylake platform but with different pin layout. We have tested our board with intel skylake platform, and everything works fine.
But we are not sure if there will any compatibility issues between two platforms.
Will Raptor Lake use the same socket as Alder Lake?
In current beta releases of raptor lake, there are two cpus with lga 3647 sockets, and both of them do not fit into alder lake’s socket. However, these two cpus have different socket designs, which means they will fit on alder lake’s socket. If raptor lake follows the same pattern as alder lake, it might use lga 3647 or lga 3647+ sockets, and both of them would fit into alder lake’s socket.
It is also possible that raptor lake will use lga 3647+ sockets, but it will have a different socket design than alder lake. It is also unclear whether raptor lake will use lga 3647 sockets or lga 3647+ sockets. However, if lga 3647+ sockets are used, then raptor lake should fit into alder lake’s socket.
Since alder lake pins are different from lga 1151 pins, raptor lake will fit into alder lake’s socket only if the pins are compatible.
